Behind the scenes of Everyday Calm

There's nothing quite like watching daylight transform everyday scenes. From early morning walks around the waterway to enjoying the dappled light filtering through tree shadows, I've been captivated by each moment, inspired to capture them in this new body of work.

I've found this year to be a bit of a challenge and have run into many mental walls throughout the last 8 or so months. One thing that I have kept coming back to is trying to find small sparks of joy in the everyday. I love my big hikes, but my small everyday walks around the neighbourhood have also done wonders for my mental health. The scenery isn't quite as spectacular as the ridge lines of the Kepler Track, but quiet walks along the waterways always bring a little calm to my day.

These pieces have all been inspired by finding magic in these everyday moments—those fleeting instances of joy and beauty that often go unnoticed.

I've loved bringing these scenes to life. I embraced the freedom to play with paint strokes and vibrant touches of colour. I've also used purposeful lines and bold dots of colour to represent the sparks of joy I experienced in those moments.

I can't wait to share those fleeting moments of wonder and happiness with you. Theres so much magic and beauty in our everyday surroundings.

Everyday Calm original framed works on board will be available 7 August at 11am NZT
