Coming soon: The Hours Between
Back in June I wrote about loosening the rules on what a “collection” should look like. Not holding out for twelve polished works on the same theme, but letting smaller groups come together when the timing felt right.
The Hours Between is exactly that.
These paintings were made in the gaps around everything else. After work, on weekends, whenever I had a stretch of time to pick up a brush. They carry that rhythm. Some sat half-done until the right colour finally made sense. Others changed course mid-way and surprised me. None of them were rushed, but none of them were mapped out either.
What ties them together isn’t subject. It’s the season they came from. A year of slowing down, giving myself room to explore, and letting the process lead. The growth is there: last year I might have scrapped these starts, this year I let them sit, came back, and found the way through.
There are five originals, and they’ll be live on Tuesday 23 September. I’ll share the full line-up soon, but for now here are a few glimpses from the studio.
